UNLEASHING ADVENTURE: DISCOVER THE ALL-NEW 2024 TOYOTA TACOMA
After dominating the mid-size pickup truck market for nearly two decades, the Toyota Tacoma is embarking on its next chapter. The completely redesigned 2024 Tacoma is built with epic adventures in mind, improving upon its winning formula that has made it a top choice for truck buyers. With Toyota’s legendary quality, durability, and reliability, the all-new Tacoma is set to continue its reign as the go-anywhere truck of choice.
The 2024 Tacoma is a ground-up redesign, based on Toyota’s TNGA-F global truck platform, which it shares with the Tundra and Sequoia models. Engineered specifically for the U.S. market, this fourth-generation Tacoma features a new high-strength boxed, steel-ladder frame and a range of off-road-focused features. It boasts a fully redesigned multi-link coil rear suspension that enhances ride and handling, offering an even better driving experience. The Tacoma also offers two powerful and efficient turbocharged four-cylinder powertrains, including the top-of-the-line i-FORCE MAX hybrid variant, delivering an impressive 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque.
One of the highlights of the new Tacoma lineup is the introduction of the Trailhunter grade, a purpose-built overlanding rig that was first revealed as a concept at the 2022 SEMA show. The Trailhunter comes equipped with all the necessary features for off-road adventures, and it can be purchased directly from the dealer lot.
According to Dave Christ, Toyota group vice president and general manager, “With even more off-road capability and a wide range of options for every owner, we’re confident that the Tacoma will remain the top choice for mid-size pickup buyers.”
The 2024 Tacoma is set to go on sale later this year, with the i-FORCE MAX models arriving in early 2024. Pricing details will be announced closer to the on-sale dates.
Design and development of the new Tacoma was led by Toyota’s North American-based CALTY Design Center, known for its work on previous Toyota truck models. The goal was to capture the authentic spirit of rugged outdoor fun that Tacoma owners love. The design team drew inspiration from Toyota’s Baja race trucks and focused on creating a powerful, athletic stance that reflects the truck’s off-road capabilities. Signature design elements, such as the high-mount headlamps, aggressive skid plates, and integrated spoilers, contribute to the Tacoma’s distinctive look.
Extensive engineering research and development took place at Toyota Technical Centers in Michigan, Arizona, and California. The engineering teams embraced the concept of “Tacoma-ness” and worked to enhance the truck’s off-road capabilities, making it suitable for a wide range of environments and driving conditions. Each grade of the Tacoma has its own unique focus, with hardware, specifications, and performance-based tuning tailored to deliver a distinct driving experience.
The new Tacoma’s rugged construction and capability are notable features. It shares the TNGA-F platform with the Tundra and Sequoia, utilizing high-strength steel and aluminum to increase rigidity and reduce weight. The frame crossmembers are strengthened to support overlanding gear, and the roof is equipped with integrated attachment holes for roof rack rails. A new multi-link rear suspension replaces the leaf springs on most models, improving ride quality. The Tacoma also features four-wheel disc brakes for enhanced braking performance, with larger brake packages available on TRD models and above.
The towing capacity of the Tacoma reaches up to 6,500 lbs., and the maximum payload increases to 1,709 lbs. To assist with towing, the Tacoma offers a range of supporting features, including a trailer brake controller, trailer backup guide, and digital display mirror. The truck is equipped with advanced
safety features, such as Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, which includes a suite of driver-assist technologies like pre-collision braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and more. These features provide an added layer of safety and peace of mind for both on and off-road driving.
The interior of the 2024 Tacoma has been redesigned with a focus on comfort, convenience, and technology. The cabin offers a spacious and refined environment, with available premium materials and seating options. The driver-centric cockpit is equipped with an updated infotainment system, featuring a large touchscreen display that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration. With the available removable & portable JBL premium audio system, you can enjoy your favorite music with exceptional sound quality, wherever you go.
Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of off-road features available on the 2024 Tacoma. The TRD Pro grade, known for its rugged capabilities, returns with upgraded features such as FOX internal bypass shocks, front skid plate, upgraded suspension, and all-terrain tires. The TRD Off-Road package is also available, offering a locking rear differential, crawl control, and multi-terrain select system, allowing you to conquer challenging terrains with confidence.
In addition to the TRD Pro and TRD Off-Road packages, the Tacoma lineup offers a range of other grades to suit different preferences and needs. From the base SR grade to the premium Limited trim, there’s a Tacoma for every type of driver. Whether you’re seeking a capable work truck or a versatile vehicle for weekend adventures, the Tacoma has you covered.
Toyota has a long-standing reputation for producing reliable and durable vehicles, and the 2024 Tacoma is no exception. With its robust construction, advanced safety features, off-road prowess, and refined interior, the new Tacoma continues the legacy of its predecessors while pushing the boundaries of what a mid-size pickup truck can offer.
