Halloween In Ottawa: Something For The Kids & A Little Something for You
With summer taking its final bow and holiday season just around the corner, you’re likely itching to get out and enjoy the sights & sounds of the fall in Ottawa. There’s no better way to enjoy the season than to take part in a little Halloween fun this October. So that begs the question, which kind of Halloween experience are you after this year? Ottawa has a nice blend of something for the kids and the adults in the crowd. Read on and find the event sure to get you into the holiday spirit—no tricks, all treats!
Here’s a few things the whole family can enjoy:
Pumpkin Fest: Proulx Maple & Berry Farm | Sept. 18 – Oct. 31, 2022 (Admission fee, All-ages $6.00 CAD)
Located just 30 minutes east of downtown Ottawa, the Proulx Maple & Berry Farm is annually converted into a giant Halloween playground during the daytime. Bring the kids and enjoy the fun corn mazes, face-paint, wagon rides and of course tons of pumpkins to choose from. However, at nighttime the farm transforms into Skreamers (https://skreamers.ca/) – A Haunting Experience, where you can have a frightfully good time. *Skreamers is not recommended for children under 10, except during family hour from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Pumpkinferno: Upper Canada Village, Morrisburg, ON | Sept. 30 – Oct. 30, 2022 (Admission fee, All-ages $20.00 CAD)
This one is a no-brainer for the kids; with about 7,000 hand-carved pumpkins, set against a spellbinding night-time backdrop just inside the gates of historic Upper Canada Village. Walk through the one-kilometre route and marvel at the enchanting scenes of Halloween fun, folklore heroes, storybook characters and so much more. Halloween Costume Party on the Farm: The Log Farm | 670 Cedarview Road, Ottawa, ON | Oct. 29 – Oct. 30, 2022 (Admission fee, All-ages $11.99 CAD)
Sometimes, it’s scary to be out after dark—so, this is the perfect outing for little ones. Come out to the farm with your costume on. The farm hosts kindly provide trick-or-treat bags (pre-packaged and sealed to take home) for all the children. There are festive harvest wagon rides and a corn maze for the little ones to play in. There are also lots of animals to pet and feed. With lots of open space, it makes it easy to be able to enjoy your visit, while allowing your little monsters to run around a bit and enjoy the fresh air of the outdoors. Haunted Ottawa Jail Tour: Saintlo Jail (Hostel) | 75 Nicholas Street, Ottawa, ON | Sept. 29- Oct. 31 (Admission fee, Adults $24.99 CAD & Youth (up to 14 years) $19.99 CAD)

Are your kids on the older side, and maybe not so thrilled or delighted by corn-mazes anymore? Explore Ottawa’s famous haunted jail and real-life murder mystery. Explore the cellblocks where inmates were once imprisoned, as your tour-guide takes you along the final footsteps of the condemned as you walk from Death Row to the last working gallows in Canada. Do they still haunt the hallways of the jail to this day? Join us and find out for yourself. Not recommended for children under the age of 10. Come to The SHOW and enjoy a night of chilling costumes, endless dancing and loud music. Who doesn’t love a little bit of creepy historical lore? Each Friday and from late September, through early November you can spend an evening indulging in the thrilling Stittsville Haunted Heritage Tours. Looking to get a little weird for Halloween? Come down to Club SAW and take part in EMO Night Ottawa, where you can enjoy crazy costumes, big hair and loud music. With a live show featuring cover bands for your favorite EMO staples like A Day To Remember, Underoath, Fall Out Boy, City and Colour, Dashboard Confessional— You’re bound to have a howling good time and dance until the full moon rises. Who doesn’t love a good old fashion dance off? Bring you’re A-game and show off your best moves at the Goblins & Ghouls All-Style Dance Battle: costumes mandatory.
