How many Jeep Wrangler top options are there?
For the 2019 model year Jeep Wrangler, there are three top options. The Sunrider Soft Top, the Freedom Top and the Sky One-Touch Power Top.
- Sunrider Soft Top
The Sunrider Soft Top comes standard on Wrangler Sport and Rubicon models. This zipperless top makes opening and closing quick and easy. This soft top now comes with a sunroof option for days when you’d like to enjoy the breeze without removing the entire top. However, removing the soft top has been made easier, thanks to the retainers that slide directly onto a track for convenience.
- Freedom Top
The three-piece Freedom hardtop features easy-to-remove front panels and is available in Black or body-colour. The Freedom Top is available on all Jeep Wrangler models and is crafted with lightweight panels, making removal easier than ever.
- Sky One-Touch Power Top
The top-of-the-line Sky One-Touch Power Top is the most convenient, allowing you to pop the top with the push of a button. The full-length roof retracts with one touch, letting you sit back and relax while your Jeep does the work. The Sky One-Touch Power Top is available on four-door models.

Which Jeep Wrangler Top is Best?
- Convenience and Road Noise
When it comes to convenience, the Sky One-Touch Power Top is obviously your best bet. However, the retainers on the soft top make removal relatively easy as well. The Freedom Top takes a bit more effort since you have to remove each panel and store them safely. When it comes to road noise, the Sky One-Touch is going to be the quietest option, followed by the Freedom Hard Top. The Sunrider Soft Top is the loudest option of the three, but if you’ve ever driven a soft-top Jeep Wrangler, you know it’s no biggie.
- Low Cost
If you’re looking for the most cost-efficient option, the Sunrider Soft Top is your best bet, since it’s standard equipment and comes at no additional cost. The freedom top is the mid-tier option, while the Sky One-Touch Power Top is going to cost the most.
- Winter Options
When it comes to winter driving, especially in Alberta, a hard top is your best option. Soft tops don’t retain heat as well as their hardtop counterparts. Additionally, soft tops can be damaged during the winter months. Snow and rainfall can weigh down the tops, while the colder temperatures will shrink a bit and have less flex to them.
